Resource Sharing

The Resource Sharing Community of Interest [COI] was originally formed as the ILL [inter-library loan] committee and plays a major role in ensuring that the BLC member libraries achieve their goal of providing quality, cost-effective and timely sharing of print, electronic and digital resources across the consortium.

The COI was instrumental in developing a set of resource sharing best practices benchmarks that provide  guidelines to all of the BLC libraries on standards, workflows and service levels expected for the sharing of resources within the BLC.  The Resource Sharing COI works together to:

  •  Encourage best practice
  • Aspire to achieve more by working together
  • Think about change
  • Create consistent policies
  • Inspire one another to try new things
  • Rethink services and systems
  • Share ideas and trends
  • Support one another
  • Advocate for our users
  • Lend generously
  • Offer convenient service options
  • Provide the fastest turnaround time possible.

Membership

The Resource Sharing COI is open to any BLC member library staff involved in inter-library loan or other aspects of resource sharing.

Meetings

The COI meets twice annually: in the fall/winter and in the spring/summer.  Meetings are posted on the BLC website and minutes are available through the members' wiki.
