Moving beyond self-care to address workplace stress & occupational trauma through collective care.
Librarians and library staff are regularly exposed to stress, human suffering, and occupational trauma every day at work. The impact of this exposure can be significant. Nevertheless, many people who work in helping professions have not been supported to address workplace stress and trauma exposure or have been asked to address only it at the individual level with self-care practices. In this session will explore workplace stress & trauma exposure and how we can think differently about addressing it at the team and organizational level through collective care practices.
Learning Objectives
This workshop is designed to achieve the following outcomes:
- Foster a greater awareness and understanding of Trauma, Trauma Exposure Response, and Trauma Responsive Workplaces.
- Provide actionable strategies to support a Trauma Responsive Approach to client and constituent contact.
- Provide frameworks and tools to address Workplace Stress & Trauma at the individual, team, and organizational levels.
- Engage and inspire all staff through exposure to the process and opportunities of a trauma responsive workplace.
