Onboarding and Offboarding

Building connection and community with staff starts even before an employee’s first day in the building. This session will share tips for communicating effectively with employees before and during their first days of employment with a strong onboarding program that introduces them to the people and systems with which they’ll be working in their job.

The session will continue by talking about effective communication at the end of an employee’s time with the library, setting up an effective offboarding process that smooths the process for the departing employee and those will remain. Participants will have the opportunity to share their own experiences and collectively brainstorm elements of successful onboarding and offboarding.
