BLC's Executive Director Selected

After a nationwide search conducted by Isaacson Miller that brought in three excellent candidates, we are very pleased toannounce that Susan Stearns has accepted the position of Executive Director of the Boston Library Consortium.

Susan is currently Vice President of Strategic Partnerships for the Ex Libris Group, where she has responsibility for developing collaborative programs with academic and research libraries globally. Prior to this, she served as Vice President for Professional Services managing the implementation of Ex Libris products and services throughout North America.  Susan has extensive experience in the library and scholarly communications world having been involved in marketing, product management, and customer support for companies that serve libraries and researchers including Gaylord Information Services [now Polaris], Inmagic, Northernlight Technologies and Faxon Research Services.  She began her library career working in academic and corporate libraries and has an MLS from Simmons College and an AB from Mount Holyoke College.

From Susan:

"I am excited to be joining the Boston Library Consortium having had the opportunity to work with many of the individual member libraries over the last few years and to see directly how committed they are to responding to the strategic challenges that face libraries today.  The BLC has a strong track record of supporting resource sharing across the membership and of initiating collaborative programs that serve the strategic objectives of their member institutions.  I look forward to continuing and expanding this shared vision for the BLC."

Special thanks to the Search Committee (Eileen Hardy, Elvernoy Johnson, Daniel Ortiz, Janet Stewart, Will Wakeling and Tom Wall) that worked with Beverly Brady and Alan Wichlei of Isaacson Miller, as well as the many BLC members who contributed to the process.

Susan will begin her work with the BLC on August 19th.
