Brandeis University Selects New Associate University Librarian for Collections

Brandeis University's Library and Technology Services is pleased to announce that Matthew Sheehy will be the new Associate University Librarian for Collections, beginning December 1.  Matthew comes to Brandeis from Harvard University, where he served as Head of Access Services. Previous to his work at Harvard, he was Acting Director for Reference and Research Services at the New York Public Library, and he has also held library leadership positions at Adelphi University and Rutgers University.

His new role at Brandeis will allow Matthew the opportunity to rebuild a Collections team that saw a number of retirements in the past year. In his previous roles, Matthew has been “proud of building teams that are not afraid of trying new things and learning from their experiences.” He says he is looking forward to the opportunity to think about collections at Brandeis in a broader context including collaboration with peers and the many new electronic resources and formats. He also believes it will be important to enhance discovery so those collections can contribute to the scholarship at the university.

Matthew will report to John Unsworth, the Vice Provost, University Librarian, and Chief information Officer of Library and Technology Services.
