Expanding Knowledge Webinar: Report from the OA2020 Transformation Workshop
Tuesday, November 13, 2018 - 11:00am to 12:00pm
Webinar
This webinar will review key points from the workshop and provide key steps that the BLC could take to accelerate the transition of scholarly communications to open access. The webinar will provide a clear understanding of the strategic and practical aspects of transitioning to OA, give attendees the ability to create and implement their own OA2020 roadmap within their own institutions, and provide best practices in managing and leading the open access transformation.
Webinar presenter Marilyn Billings is the Head of the Office of Scholarly Communication at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She provides leadership in alternative scholarly communication strategies, including open access, open education and the role of digital repositories in today’s academic environment. She provides oversight of the UMass Amherst institutional repository ScholarWorks @ UMass Amherst and provides leadership and inspiration for the campus’ Open Education Initiative established in 2011. From November 2017 – July 2018, she held the position of Interim Director of Instructional Innovation at UMass Amherst. Current research interests include the Open Scholarly Commons and how various open initiatives tie into that broader framework. At the national level, she is a member of SPARC’s OER Advisory Committee, the Library Publishing Coalition Board and is an Open Textbook Network presenter.
