SCCTP Basic Serials Two-Day Training - February 5-6, 2018
Monday, February 5, 2018 - 9:00am to Tuesday, February 6, 2018 - 4:00pm
Training
The BLC held a SCCTP Basic Serials Two-Day Training with Cathy Weng, Head of Cataloging at the College of New Jersey Library, at Tufts University on February 5th-6th, 2018.
This free training for BLC members provided the basic principles of serials cataloging for original and copy cataloging for print serials. The training focused on the elements contained in the CONSER standard record (CSR), including appropriate MARC 21 tagging, as well as problem-solving and decision-making relative to serials cataloging. All materials were based on the CONSER standard record documentation, CONSER Editing Guide, and CONSER Cataloging Manual.
Cathy Weng's previous experiences include working as Head of Serials Cataloging Unit at Temple University Library in Philadelphia, cataloger at the H. W. Wilson Company in New York and serials cataloger at Tufts University Library in Boston. She received her MLS from SUNY Buffalo. Cathy has been an SCCTP trainer since early 2000s and frequently gives workshops in mid-Atlantic region.
