Wikipedia Workshop and Hackathon

Wednesday, April 1, 2015 - 9:30am to 4:30pm
Training

This day-long Wikipedia workshop and hackathon on April 1, 2015 at Northeastern University will be hosted by Amanda Rust, Digital Humanities Librarian. It will introduce participants to some of the various ways to contribute to Wikipedia, with a focus on Special Collections and Archives. The first half of the day will provide background and discussion exercises, while the second half will primarily be devoted to leading participants through hands-on editing work on Wikipedia. All levels of experience are welcome, and participants are encouraged to bring their own ideas for work in the afternoon. Participants will leave with a better understanding of Wikipedia's community principles and goals, ideas for developing their own library programs, some hands-on editing experience, and resources for further help.

Registration is now closed but you may email Ondi Gottesman at ogottesman@blc.org to be placed on a waiting list.
