BLC Sponsors ORCiD Workshop

On July 25, 2017, the Boston Library Consortium held an "ORCiD Workshop" at Boston College to discuss the benefits of ORCiD and current ORCiD initititives at BLC libraries. The featured speakers were Alice Meadows, the Director of Communications for ORCiD, Jane Morris, the Head of Scholarly Communication and Research at Boston College Libraries, Rebecca Reznik-Zellen, the Head of Research and Scholarly Communication Services at the Lamar Soutter Library at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and Leslie Button, the Associate Director for Library Services at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
In the workshop, Alice Meadows discussed the why, what, and how of ORCiD, a universal persistent digital identifier for researchers that is being widely adopted and used globally. Alice's presentation slides can be viewed here.
Jane Morris, Rebecca Reznik-Zellen, and Leslie Button from BLC libraries presented on "ORCiD Integration within the BLC", each disscussing their institution's ORCiD inititives and answering audience questions. You can view the presentation slides of Jane Morris and Rebecca Reznik-Zellen online.
The Boston Library Consortium wishes to thank ORCiD, Mary Lafferty and Scott Britton at Boston College, and all the guest speakers for making this event a success. If you have ideas for the Consortium to consider for future events on this or related topics, please contact Mei Mendez.
