BLC Networking Day will welcome David Ferriero, Archivist of the United States

On Tuesday, May 30th, the BLC will hold its annual membership meeting, Networking Day, at Brandeis University.  Staff at all BLC member libraries are invitied to attend and can register here

We are particularly excited to welcome David Ferriero, Archivist of the United States, as our keynote speaker for the day.  In keeping with the BLC's new workforce development initiatives, David's talk is entitled "Building Our Future Through Our Staff:  Rethinking, Recruiting, and Retaining the Workforce in the 2020's".  He will focus on the complexities of librarians' and libraries' role in the context of new and emerging technologies, the rise of "fake news" and the expanding varieties and formats of information. We look forward to a conversation with David about the future workforce.

Please join me, the BLC Board President, Martha Bedard of the University of Connecticut, and colleagues from across the consortium to hear David's remarks as well as afternoon lightning talks on a variety of initiatives and programs at BLC libraries.  The meeting will run from 10:00am to about 3:30pm with lunch provided.  Interested BLC Communities of Interest may also choose to meet following the formal agenda. And, we'll be formally launching the BLC Leads leadership institute and welcoming the inaugural cohort.
We hope to see you there.
