Joining more than 20 membership Communities in BLC’s network, the new Web Archiving Community of Interest is a forum for learning about web archiving activities, tools, and technologies at BLC member institutions and identifying opportunities for consortial web archiving activities.
The BLC Web Archiving Community of Interest serves as a space for members to share information, collaborate, ask questions, and learn from each other about issues related to web archiving in libraries and the broader GLAM community. Web archiving may include online resources that fall within the purview of an institution's collection development policy and/or internal resources and documentation deemed worth preserving and stewarding.
The COI is open to BLC members interested in web archiving as it relates to their job and organization, as well as members who would like to learn more about this topic and meets at least four times a year, including a meeting at the BLC Forum. The new COI will be co-chaired by Anna E. Kijas, Head of the Lilly Music Library at Tufts University, and Bee Lehman, Digital Humanities Program Librarian at Boston College.
Specific areas of focus for the COI include:
This COI will be most relevant to the Archives and Special Collections COI and Technology COI due to relevant and overlapping topics of interest, including but not limited to digital preservation, at-risk collections, archiving born-digital content, software and hardware applications, metadata and description, and ethical considerations to web archiving.
