Library workers at BLC member institutions are eligible for a 15% program fee discount upon acceptance into the 2026 Leadership Institute for Academic Librarians (LIAL) at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
LIAL is an intensive, weeklong program designed for library leaders who want to strengthen strategic thinking, expand leadership capacity, and increase their impact within their institutions. Participants learn alongside peers and engage with Harvard faculty in a highly interactive environment focused on practical leadership challenges in higher education. This program is ideal for individuals and teams responsible for managing and leading academic libraries. The 2026 Institute will be held from July 12 - 17, 2026. Applications are now open through June 1, 2026.
Join this information session to learn more about the program and the application process. The session will open with a program overview from Harvard Graduate School of Education representatives, followed by insights from Evan Simpson of Northeastern University, BLC member and LIAL faculty member. Sarah Corvene, Head of Metadata Services at Tufts University and 2024 LIAL program graduate, will also share her experience as a participant. We’ll close with Q&A and guidance on next steps, including how to apply and how the BLC discount works.
