Boston, MA - 02/18/2026 - The Boston Library Consortium is pleased to announce that Jared Cowing will be joining BLC as Assistant Director for Systems and Metadata Services, beginning February 23, 2026.
Jared will provide hands-on technical leadership for Alma/Primo shared configurations, metadata quality and analytics, release testing and implementation, and onboarding new institutions into BLC’s Network Zone.
In addition, Jared will help lead BLC’s shared services initiatives, including the continued development of consulting offerings as articulated by the Shared Services Working Group, and will provide local systems support at BLC member institutions.
“Jared brings deep technical expertise and a thoughtful, collaborative approach to systems leadership—qualities that strengthen the foundation of our Network Zone and shared services work. His hands-on guidance will be essential as we continue to refine shared configurations, improve metadata quality, and support member institutions. I’m excited to see the impact of his leadership in this newly established role.”
— Charlie Barlow, Executive Director, Boston Library Consortium
I’m excited to get started and begin working more closely with colleagues across the BLC's member libraries. Supporting and growing our technological infrastructure is becoming increasingly complex work, and we have much to gain from coordinating more of that effort across the consortium to ensure that we all keep moving forward together. The Network Zone in particular is at a point now in its growth where we can really deliver more on our participants’ shared goals. I look forward to playing a part in the continued growth of these efforts and helping to deliver a positive impact to the BLC.
Please join us in welcoming Jared to Team BLC!
