September 15, 22, & 29, 2025   |   11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Online (Zoom)
Whether you are brand new to instruction or you have been doing it a while, but your stomach still lurches when you walk in the classroom and you would rather be doing anything else, this series of workshops may be for you. Teaching is a major part of what we do as Reference/Instruction Librarians and being comfortable, if not happy, in the classroom can make all the difference.

You are welcome to sign up for all or pick the sessions that speak to you. Due to the interactive nature of this series, please note these sessions will not be recorded.

Part 1: Nervous Energy (September 15)
Whether you feel trembly, light-headed, or sweaty when speaking in front of a crowd, we will explore techniques to help you with nervous energy including breathing techniques, setting intentions, and creating helpful mindsets. Technology and its inevitable failures don’t help with nerves, so we’ll also work on some practical things you can do in your own classrooms.

Part 2: Finding Your Voice (September 22)
Who do you sound like when you speak? So many people may take on a persona when they speak, but actually, it’s easiest to just be yourself. We’ll work on how to make sure it’s the real you, including the presentation styles and dress that reflect you and not who you think you should be.

Part 3: Working with Students and Conserving your Energy (September 29)
How do you show up for your students? What energy can you bring to help you and your students feel good about the class? And after a class has happened, we can often feel drained, even after a wonderful session, so how do you recover your energy? We will explore meditation techniques and energy work that can help.
