Community Charge

The Network Zone Cataloging Community of Practice provides leadership on all aspects of cataloging and metadata within the Network Zone.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain the Shared Network Zone Catalog

    • Formulate policies and standards – develop and document policies and standards for the shared Network Zone catalog, including recommendations for inclusive cataloging

    • Establish shared processes and tools – investigate and set up NZ-wide shared processes and configurations, including normalization rules, merge rules, automated record updates, MARC record loads, and authority control

  • Support new and existing Network Zone members

    • Collaborate, review, and advise – work with other CoPs on activities and procedures that interact with or influence Network Zone catalog records, and work with each other to solve issues that arise

    • Share information – disperse information on cataloging and metadata, policies and standards, to catalogers and colleagues across the Network Zone institutions, and to prospective or incoming Network Zone members

Membership

The Network Zone Cataloging CoP includes up to two representatives from Network Zone member institutions.

Membership is reviewed and renewed each June, beginning June 2026.

Meetings

The Cataloging Community of Practice meets bi-monthly, with additional meetings as-needed.
