Network Zone Collections

Community of Practice

Community Charge

The Network Zone Collections Community of Practice is charged with stewarding the Network Zone libraries’ efforts to leverage the Alma Network Zone to facilitate shared collections and shared collections-related workflows across the span of resources that libraries provide access to–both physical and electronic.

This standing Community of Practice includes members from each of the Network Zone institutions, and engages in goals-setting on an annual basis following the Boston Library Consortium’s fiscal year.

In alignment with the Network Zone project's guiding principles and values, the Network Zone Collections CoP is committed to prioritizing shared workflows and consensus in all aspects of its work.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and prioritize opportunities for shared workflows related to the maintenance of collections in the Network Zone as well as those maintained in institutional zones for which the Network Zone offers enhanced, collaborative workflows. For example: workflows related to shared and open access electronic resources.

  • Work with central BLC staff and Leads to determine staffing solutions for collections-related shared workflows in the Network Zone.

  • Analyze member institutions’ licensed resources and prioritize resources for collective licensing.

  • Identify and prioritize opportunities for member institutions to undertake collective collection development built on Network Zone functionalities, or local collection development informed by the Network Zone.

  • Collaborate with the Network Zone Analytics Working Group to develop analytics reports and dashboards to support collective collection building.
