NCIP (NISO Circulation Interchange Protocol, also known as Z39.83) is a technical standard that allows different library systems to communicate with each other. The protocol is commonly adopted to help integrated library systems/library services platforms speak with interlibrary loan software to make data connections and create more streamlined workflows. In this capacity, BLC’s membership has moderately adopted the use of NCIP with several libraries indicating a growing interest in implementing the standard. Join us for this community-driven conversation focused on better understanding NCIP, sharing local experiences of using and implementing the standard, and collaborating on strategies for broader adoption.
Roundtables are community-driven conversations focused on a specific topic, typically held between two or more BLC communities. If you’re interested in holding a future roundtable on a unique topic across BLC’s membership, please reach out to Cate Harriman at charriman@blc.org.
